I Almost Forgot!

I can't believe it!

I was looking at the paper the other day and realized it's almost Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone, may your Holidays be sprinkled with many cuddles, treats, and most of all, love!

Always There

I got your back!

2012 has not been the kindest year to many of our fellow bloggers but we must never forget that our pets have our backs whether here and now or at the Rainbow Bridge.  They love us unconditionally and forever, a blessing from God.  Take a moment and give thanks as appropriate, for we are indeed very fortunate people.

This is dedicated to the Angels in my life, Payton, Huey, Izzy, and Tricks (and a special shout out to my buddy, Hank).

With love and best holiday wishes to all my Blogger friends, both four and two-legged!

May I introduce.........

Ok, maybe I could have picked a more complementary picture of my two wonderful GrandPugs, Donald and Daisy, but I found it too irresistible!  I am so blessed to have these two in my life and Christy and Tim are under orders to let Gammy and I babysit them as often as possible!

Oh, alright Donald and Daisy, here is a better view of Donald with Christy and Daisy with Tim!  Are they not absolutely adorable (the pugs aren't bad looking either!)?    : )

Do you suppose there's a Silicon Bridge?

I'm basically offline for a while.  My trusty DELL has decided to call a permanent timeout, hence the question in the title!  I am going to leave the dark side and I've ordered a MAC Mini from Apple but I probably won't be up and running for a couple of weeks because some of the things I wanted in it aren't "stock" items.  Bear with me, "I'll be back!"

Love to you all and have a very happy Halloween!!!!

Monday Musings

Halloween Season
Just about everyone loves the fall...... beautiful colored leaves, crisp cool nights and moderate days, Pumpkin and Pecan pies.......heck what's not to like!

Allow me to clue you in ....... leaves clogging the gutters making old men (Gampy) climb ladders; having to play golf later rather than early in the day when its not so crowded (or you dress to the point you look like the Michelin Man!); dragging the golf clubs out of the trunk and into the office to keep warm overnight; dragging sheets outside to cover the weeds (sorry Gammy, I meant the flowers) in case of frost; I'd go on but I'm tired and need to take a nap!

 How do you go
from this.......

to this.....
and end up like this??????

Lots and lots and lots of Birthdays, that's how!!!!!!
Thanks to everyone who sent their best wishes my way!  I understand my thank you's weren't delivered in most cases, my apologies!

Love, Gampy

Wacky Wednesday, an unabashed editorial

Do you really want a piece of me.......

Amanda of 1000 Pugs (The Daily Puglet) is evidently getting some heat from a few participants that want immediate, hands-on care for their money.  While I applaud folks holding companies to high customer service standards when you're paying your money, Amanda made it quite clear that she was doing this massive project pretty much on her own.  No one should be suprised that things are a little behind on the administrative area and certainly shouldn't be hassleing her!  Pug needs to assert himself and if anyone can give Amanda a hand from here on out, please do.  As my great buddy Hank would say, "I Tell Ya What, Yep. Mmhmm!

Always a friend,

Monday Malarky

Another week of exploring!!

Mondays are sometimes called downers but I think that's malarky! Monday means a new week is beginning with potential adventure, the mystery of the unknown, and the joy of family! Kids have/are starting school, weather changes are afoot with the coming of fall, Holidays are looming ever closer, and human and animal continue to share that wonderful, magical bond. So hug one another, enjoy an extra treat and thank the dear Lord for these great blessings!

Payton's Mom and Noodle-Nose herself!
No golf today so I stayed in my office and something drew me to Christy and Payton's Pugnacious P site. So many wonderful memories, so many tears, such wonderful friends jumping in to support Christy. We are all lucky to have shared a pug's (or other of God's creatures) love and met one another via Bloggerville. I certainly am thankful for this wonderful world of characters! But most of all I'm thankful for the miracle of my daughter, and my angel Payton (Noodle-Nose)!

Kiawah Island's Infamous Ocean Course

The fourth golf major, the PGA, will be played on the Ocean Course this August.  God help the players because it is a terribly difficult course to play in the best of conditions, let alone with high heat, humidity and wind.   This is a picture of my golf buddies and I (I'm the one with the big rear-end and a red shirt) finishing up on the 18th hole.  An absolutely stunning golf course with, fortunately, and even better 19th hole (very cold beer)!  Hope you all are having a wonderful summer!
God bless!

My Friend Hank

My buddy Hank

I'm in North Carolina for a board meeting of the Star Foundation, a military charity foundation that gives funds to small, grassroots charities that make a real contribution to needy military and their families. It's something that I know Hank would be proud of and I plan on putting some of my own money into the coffers in memory of Hank, a fellow Nam Vet. I have lost my Grandpug and now my best blogger buddy and all I can do is say my heart goes out to Hank's family. I rather suspect Hank is looking after Payton now and selfishly that gives me some peace. God blesses the pure of heart and those that live life true; Hank crossed the bridge with bugles trumpeting. Goodbye dear friend, please take care of sweet Payton! Gampy

Dearest Payton

The outpouring of love and prayers that Payton and her family has received is simply humbling, I don't know how else to describe it. For now I can only say a simple thank you from Gammy and I; Christy and Tim will do so in their own manner and time. I have never been prouder of Christy, Tim, and this wonderful family of the Pug world. Payton took on a terrible disease and brought it to its knees, she had a most happy life and gave all of her love in return. How much more blessed could we possibly be! :) Love Gampy

Made my Day!

I have been given the Kreative Blogger Award by Tank –and I thank you so much for this wonderful award!

As Tank said along with this honor comes some responsibility…I have to answer the 10 questions below and share 10 random thoughts and/or facts about myself before passing it on to 10 other blogs. So here it goes:
Question/answer section

1. Name your favorite activity.  Golf. After that is golf, followed by more golf. OK, it’s really spending time with my family, especially Payton!

2. Name your favorite treat.  Men humans aren’t any different than pugs….it’s BACON OF COURSE!!!!

3. What ticks you off?    People who think I’m a dog – clearly I’m human with two legs and way less of a fuzz covering!

4. When you’re upset, what do you do?     Golf, after that I golf and then I…..well you get the idea!

5. What makes you indescribably happy?   When Payton’s smiles and jumps all over me being a happy Pug!

6. What do you do when you are excited?   Pray I don’t have a heart attack!  (Hank, can I say that?)

7. What is your biggest fear?   Not being able to play golf!

8. Describe your everyday attitude.    Easy going, positive.

9. Name your favorite toy.    My putter…Hank, where are you when I need you!

10. Name your favorite place to sleep or nap.     My California King bed!

Random Facts / Thoughts Section

1. I loved diving and swimming in Bedford’s limestone quarries as a kid!
2. I once spent a week in a cave over a thousand feet below the surface.
3. I have set foot in all but two countries of the world (the names have been changed to protect the innocent!).
4. I have an ambition to speak French and learn to play the piano.
5. My favorite car was a 1966 SS396.
6. I love fine wine and the Candy Kitchen’s BLT!
7. I once BBQ’d on my apartment’s patio in 80 degree weather and had a snowball fight an hour later on Mount Rainer.
8. I have “korned” a State Trooper and lived to tell about it!
9. I once considered professional bowling and I have run marathons in Texas.
10. I truly love being allowed to be a part of this community!

I must now select 10 wonderful bloggers deserving of this award and my problem is there are so many more than 10!  I'm going to number all of them and then pick the numbers out of a hat!

Winter Reminder

With winter clearly heading to the Midwest I am reminded of our dear Isabella who absolutely loved playing in the snow and seeing just how far she could knock me in the air with a head butt!  She was Gammy's companion but Izzy loved playing rough house with me.  Be at peace dear Izzy!

The Beast known as Isabella

With acknowledgement to Opaka and her post on musings on bathing I thought I'd share my take on dog baths.

If you had seen bath time with Izzy, our Giant Schnauzer, you might all have a fresh (pun intended) perspective. Gammy called it a reenactment of WW III. I haven't yet convinced her that you can't have a reenactment of something that hasn't happened but she just rolls her eyes!

Anyway, Izzy took the idea of bathing as a personal affront. I would get into my bathing suit, pick her up (this was an 80+ pound beast with at least 60 joints on her) and unceremoniously put her in the bathtub and pull the curtain shut.

We would then proceed to see if I could get soap on her without losing a finger, hand, or arm. At least the blood drained quickly, being washed down by the shower hose! 30 minutes later she would jump out of the tub and shake 40 gallons of water all over Gammy's clean bathroom. Then, six towels later, she would leave the bathroom and gallop around the house running over anything man made, or simply man for that matter, who dared be in her path.

I, being of saturated mind and body, simply limped into the bedroom and collapsed.

Bathing a pug would be such a joy!
